ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be hosted in England and Wales from 30 May to 15 July 2019.

This will be the 12th cricket World Cup and the fifth time it has been held in England. The best 10 teams in the world will compete in a single group with the top four progressing to the semi-finals and final.

Australia are defending champions but will come under real pressure from the likes of South Africa, India and Pakistan, whilst England will hope home advantage and partisan home crowds inspire them to a first ever World Cup success.

There will be 12 stadiums – the opening game will be at The Oval and the final at Lord’s – but the aim is to get cricket to the masses and celebrate the one day format of this great game.

Big crowds, huge support, the chance to make history – could this be England’s tournament?

They have some of the best one-day players in the world and will relish the opportunity. From the fire and brimstone brilliance of Eoin Morgan to the all-round mastery of Joe Root, England have match winners.

And there are a host of brilliant young things ready to do damage with the ball. If it all clicks, England may well have enough to go all the way.

Winners. Always winners. Australia make it their business to be ready for the world’s biggest one-day tournament and they know English conditions well enough to be a real handful.

The Aussies make it their habit of being competitive and as reigning champions will not want to give it up. Steve Smith is arguably the best batsman in the world, David Warner a pocket-rocket destroyer at the top of the order, while Mitchell Starc is one of the hottest properties with the new ball. They are close to be a complete package. Watch out.

They may have lost to their arch rivals Pakistan in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 but India are a wonderful team.

The colour and passion of their fans will also light up the tournament and they will relish seeing Virat Kholi bat in his magisterial way, while Shikhar Dhawan is as good as it gets at the top of the order.

Everywhere you look is skill and match winners. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah are special with the ball and if they all click will take some serious stopping in the knock out stages.
