Sri Lanka v South Africa

The Oval, London

Sri Lanka may be one of the more underrated teams in the tournament but they have enough ability to spring a surprise against anyone

Angelo Mathews is a brilliant all-round cricketer, Tillakaratne Dilshan a marvellous stroke-maker and Lasith Malinga one of the most potent and unorthodox fast bowlers in the world. But will they have the all-round strength in depth, the coolness under pressure, the discipline to go deep into the tournament?

They face an enormous start against South Africa at The Oval. The Boks are a marvellous unit, one of the most gifted one day sides in the world and they will fancy their chances of getting off to a winning start.

AB de Villiers is a brilliant all-round cricketer, David Millar explosive and a match-winner, Dale Steyn, now as experienced as they come but still capable of blowing away a top order and the mercurial Imran Tahir, a leg-spinner who has a habit of taking big wickets. This clash at the Oval has a little bit for everyone – make sure you don’t miss it.
